Upcoming MSHA Workshop: “Best Practices for Controlling Respirable Dust in Coal Mines”
The federal Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) has posted a notice and agenda for an upcoming workshop about preventing black lung that it (in collaboration with NIOSH) is holding on October 28, 2014 at the National Mine Safety & Health Academy in Beckley, WV.
The notice says:
The Best Practices for Controlling Respirable Dust in Coal Mines Workshop is scheduled for October 28, 2014 from 8 AM to 4 PM at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy. This workshop is co-hosted by the Mine Safety and Health Administration and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. This workshop is part of MSHA’s continuing commitment to End Black Lung and to provide outreach to the coal mining community in the implementation of the final respirable dust rule. Mine managers and operational staff, mine workers, safety and health professionals, mine engineers, manufacturers, consultants, and anyone else with an interest in preventing occupational lung disease in coal miners are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration for the workshop is not required. Additional workshops will be held in Birmingham, Evansville and Grand Junction in 2015.
